Höylä Stanley BAILEY Professional kromiteräs musta 5 cm

The Stanley BAILEY Professional Jack Planer Chrome Steel Black 5 cm is a traditional hand plane designed for precision wood shaping and surface finishing. It includes a durable chrome steel blade 5 cm wide and an overall length of 355 mm. The plane's construction combines black-finished body elements with stainless steel components to provide corrosion resistance and long-term reliability in workshop conditions. Intended for smoothing, leveling and planning operations, this jack plane suits a range of woodworking tasks from initial stock removal to final smoothing passes.

Advantages

The chrome steel blade maintains a sharp cutting edge and resists dulling under normal woodworking use, while the 5 cm width offers a balance between material removal rate and control. The 355 mm length helps stabilize the plane on longer boards for flatter surfaces, and the mix of black finish and stainless steel parts reduces visible wear and corrosion. The plane's ergonomic geometry allows controlled hand placement for consistent results across repeated passes.

Suitable for

• Smoothing rough-sawn boards and removing mill marks
• Trimming and fitting joints, doors and window frames
• General-purpose stock removal and final finishing
• Woodworking projects in both professional and DIY workshops

Key specifications

• Blade material: chrome steel
• Blade width: 5 cm
• Overall length: 355 mm
• Body finish: black with stainless steel components
• Tool type: jack plane for hand planing

How to use

Set the blade depth and lateral alignment so the cutting edge projects evenly across the sole. Hold the plane with one hand on the rear handle and the other near the front of the body, applying steady forward pressure while keeping the sole flat on the workpiece. Use longer, continuous strokes for flattening larger surfaces and shorter, lighter strokes for trimming or final finishing. Periodically hone or sharpen the chrome steel blade to maintain cutting performance and adjust the blade depth to suit the amount of material being removed.

Recommendations

Inspect the sole for flatness before use and keep the blade sharp and free of nicks. Use progressively finer adjustments when approaching final dimensions to avoid removing excess material. Store the plane in a dry environment to preserve the black finish and stainless steel parts.
