MICROCHIP ACK I SLIMSASX8 4SFF 8639X2 U.3 0.8M Microchip cable assembly is a purpose-built internal connection cable for server and storage systems. It provides a direct link between host adapters and up to four small form factor (4SFF) devices using the 8639/PCIe U.3 interface. With a length of 0.8 meters, the cable is intended for short to medium internal routings inside chassis where reliable high-speed data transfer and mechanical compatibility with U.3 connectors are required.

Advantages

The cable assembly offers stable signal integrity for PCIe/NVMe pathways and is designed to match the mechanical and electrical requirements of U.3 (8639) ports and 4SFF device connectors. Its compact construction reduces internal clutter and supports secure mating and retention in server bays. The standardized pinout and connector form factor minimize compatibility issues with equipment that adheres to U.3 specifications.

Suitable for

• Connecting host adapters to multiple 2.5" U.3 NVMe drives mounted in 4SFF trays
• Internal cabling in rackmount and tower servers
• Storage enclosures and drive backplanes supporting 8639/PCIe U.3
• Systems requiring a 0.8 m internal cable for tidy routing and signal performance

Key specifications

• Interface: 8639 / PCIe U.3 compatible connectors
• Supported device count: up to four small form factor (4SFF) devices
• Length: 0.8 meters (internal cable)
• Application: internal server and storage system connections for NVMe/PCIe devices
• Construction: shielded assembly optimized for high-speed data integrity

How to use

Route the cable inside the server chassis between the host adapter or HBA and the drive backplane or carrier that accepts 4SFF U.3 connectors. Ensure both ends are aligned with the keyed U.3 connectors and apply firm, even pressure until the connectors latch. Avoid sharp bends and keep the cable clear of hot components or moving parts. Verify firmware and BIOS settings on the host system to ensure the connected NVMe/PCIe devices are recognized and configured.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, use the cable in systems that conform to U.3/8639 specifications and follow manufacturer guidance on cable routing and airflow. Replace the cable if connector contacts show wear or if data errors occur. Maintain proper bend radius and secure cables to chassis points to prevent strain and accidental disconnection.
