Active Optical Cable CBO SFP28-AOC-50M 50 m — SFP28 25 Gbps Direct-Attach AOC

Active Optical Cable CBO SFP28-AOC-50M is a 50-metre SFP28-compatible direct-attach AOC that delivers 25 Gbps-class high-speed connectivity between switches, servers and other network devices. The cable uses a passive electrical interface at each end combined with an optical fiber link to minimize electromagnetic interference and signal attenuation over longer distances, making it suited for data centre interconnects, rack-to-rack links and high-density network deployments requiring low latency and consistent throughput.

Advantages

This SFP28 AOC supports 25 Gbps line rates with low insertion loss and reduced crosstalk compared with long copper runs. The optical transmission provides immunity to common-mode noise and eliminates the need for signal retimers along the 50 m span. The compact SFP28 form-factor allows hot-pluggable installation in compatible SFP28 ports and helps maintain high port density in switch and server installations.

Suitable for

• Data centre switch-to-switch interconnects
• Rack-to-rack connections within server rooms
• High-density top-of-rack and leaf-spine network fabrics
• Server uplinks and storage network links requiring 25 Gbps

Key specifications

• Form factor: SFP28 direct-attach active optical cable
• Maximum length: 50 metres
• Nominal data rate: 25 Gbps per lane (25 Gbps link rate)
• Transmission medium: optical fiber within an active cable assembly
• Electrical interface: passive SFP28-compatible contacts at module ends
• Typical use environment: data centre and enterprise network racks
• Connector type: SFP28 duplex optical connection (hot-pluggable)

How to use

Insert each SFP28 connector into the corresponding SFP28 port on network equipment while the devices are powered on or following vendor hot-swap guidelines. Verify link status in the switch or server management interface after seating the modules. Ensure the cable routing avoids excessive bending or compression; follow minimum bend radius guidelines from the equipment vendor. For best results, connect like-speed ports and configure the network interfaces for 25 Gbps operation where applicable.

Recommendations

Handle the cable by the connector housings when plugging and unplugging; avoid pulling on the fibre jacket. Maintain bend radius and prevent sharp kinks. Use in temperature-controlled rack environments and keep connectors dust-free when not connected by using protective caps.
