Active Optical -kaapeli CBO SFP28-AOC-7M-NG-BO — 7 m SFP28 AOC 25GbE-yhteyksille

The Active Optical Cable CBO SFP28-AOC-7M-NG-BO is a 7 m SFP28 AOC designed for 25GbE direct connections between compatible network devices. This fiber-based assembly integrates optical transceivers into a fixed-length cable with SFP28 connectors at each end, enabling plug-and-play links without separate modules. The 7-metre length suits short-reach interconnects inside racks and across adjacent racks, delivering lower power consumption and reduced port density compared with equivalent copper solutions.

Advantages

This SFP28 AOC reduces the need for individual transceivers and duplex fiber patching by providing an integrated optical link ready for immediate installation. The cable offers improved signal integrity and immunity to electromagnetic interference, making it suitable for dense data centre topologies. Low latency and lower electrical power use compared with DACs help optimise thermal and power budgets in server and switch deployments.

Suitable for

• Server-to-switch 25GbE interconnects within racks
• Switch-to-switch links between adjacent racks or rows
• Short-reach high-performance networking in data centres
• High-density installations where space and power savings are required

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP28 on both ends
• Link type: Active Optical Cable (AOC)
• Supported data rate: 25 Gigabit Ethernet
• Cable length: 7 metres
• Transmission medium: Multimode optical fibre integrated in cable assembly
• Plug-and-play operation: No separate transceivers required
• Typical applications: Short-reach rack and row interconnects

How to use

Install the cable by inserting each SFP28 connector into compatible SFP28 ports on the devices to be linked. Ensure both devices support 25GbE SFP28 AOC connections and are powered down or follow hot-plugging procedures recommended by the equipment vendor. After seating the connectors, verify link status through device management interfaces and confirm negotiated speed and link integrity. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and mechanical strain on the connectors.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, avoid tight bends and excessive pulling force on the cable. Use appropriate cable management to maintain minimum bend radius and to separate the AOC from sources of mechanical stress. Verify firmware and compatibility notes of network equipment when deploying SFP28 AOCs, and monitor link performance after installation to ensure expected 25GbE operation.
