Why choose it

The 9.81 Onyx Mid GTX is built for precision on rock. The Vibram® Megagrip outsole provides reliable grip on both wet and dry surfaces, while the GORE-TEX® lining ensures your feet stay dry during stream crossings or unexpected showers. The mid-cut design adds ankle support without restricting mobility, and the dual density EVA midsole cushions every step on hard terrain. Garmont's ADD® and Heel Lock technologies work together to reduce heel slip and improve overall fit, giving you the confidence to push your limits.

Ideal use cases

• Technical approach hikes to climbing crags
• Via ferrata routes requiring secure footing
• Light hiking on rocky, uneven trails
• Scrambling over boulders and scree
• All-weather use in alpine environments

Good to know

Garmont recommends sizing up half a size if you plan to wear thicker socks. The suede leather upper should be treated with a waterproofing spray periodically to maintain performance. The Vibram® Megagrip outsole is designed for durability on rock, but avoid prolonged use on pavement to extend its life.
