HP 6Gb/sec SAS Enterprise and Midline hard drives provide high-performance storage for transaction-heavy applications. Available in 2.5in (SFF) and 3.5in (LFF) form factors, these drives support HP hot-plug and non-hot-plug carriers and are offered in multiple capacity points to suit various deployment needs. The SAS 6Gb/s interface is engineered for enterprise-class environments where performance, reliability and data integrity are essential.

Advantages

These HP SAS drives deliver enterprise-grade reliability and availability suitable for mission-critical and business-critical applications. The robust dual-port, full-duplex SAS interface supports high-throughput and redundant access paths. Drives are compatible with HP ProLiant server hot-plug carriers, including new universal carriers for Gen8 systems while maintaining support for Gen7 and earlier carriers, enabling flexible upgrades and mixed-environment deployments.

Key specifications

• Interface: SAS 6 Gb/s (dual-port, full duplex)
• Form factors: 2.5" (SFF) and 3.5" (LFF)
• Carrier options: hot-plug and non-hot-plug (HP carriers)
• Target use cases: transaction processing, databases, analytics, high-performance computing, business applications

How to use

Install the drive into a compatible HP server or storage enclosure, ensuring the correct carrier type (hot-plug or non-hot-plug) for the system. For hot-plug configurations, use the appropriate HP universal hot-plug carrier for Gen8 or maintain existing carriers for Gen7 and earlier. Configure RAID, firmware and host controller settings according to server documentation and storage best practices to ensure redundancy and optimal performance.

Recommendations

Choose the drive form factor and capacity based on workload requirements. For high-availability environments, deploy dual-port SAS connectivity and configure redundant paths. Verify carrier compatibility with your ProLiant generation before installation.
