Sovitinsarja HP Enterprise RP001230244 QSFP–SFP+

Adaptor Kit HP Enterprise RP001230244 QSFP to SFP+ is a hardware solution that enables interoperability between QSFP cages or ports and SFP+ optical or DAC modules in compatible HP Enterprise network devices. It allows network administrators to install SFP+ transceivers or direct-attach copper cables in systems equipped with QSFP physical cages, facilitating gradual migration, cable consolidation and more flexible use of existing port hardware without modifying the host device.

Advantages

The adaptor kit supports conversion of a QSFP physical interface to accept a single SFP+ transceiver, maintaining signal integrity and mechanical alignment within the cage. It reduces the need to replace line cards or chassis when moving between 40G and 10G connections, enables reuse of SFP+ optics and cables, and simplifies inventory management. The passive mechanical adaptor requires no additional configuration and is compatible with standard form-factor transceivers and cables when used in supported HP Enterprise equipment.

Suitable for

• Migration from 40G QSFP ports to 10G SFP+ links during phased upgrades
• Cable consolidation when SFP+ transceivers or DACs are preferred over QSFP modules
• Test labs and maintenance environments that require flexible port usage
• Data center installations where reuse of existing SFP+ optics lowers replacement costs

Key specifications

• Form-factor conversion: QSFP physical cage to single SFP+ transceiver
• Passive mechanical adaptor designed for compatibility with standard SFP+ transceiver dimensions
• Compatible with QSFP ports on supported HP Enterprise networking equipment
• Supports insertion of SFP+ optical modules and direct-attach copper (DAC) cables
• Dimensions and mechanical tolerance matching QSFP cage specifications for secure fit

How to use

Install the adaptor into the QSFP cage following the device manufacturer’s mechanical guidance until it seats securely. Insert the SFP+ transceiver or DAC cable into the adaptor as you would into an SFP+ slot, ensuring correct orientation and latch engagement. After physical installation, verify the network device recognizes the link and confirm interface settings (speed, duplex, auto-negotiation) via the device management interface. When removing the adaptor, power down or administratively disable the port if recommended by the host device documentation, then release the transceiver latch and carefully withdraw the adaptor.

Recommendations

Use the adaptor in equipment and firmware versions listed as supported by the device vendor to ensure full compatibility. Prefer genuine or vendor-qualified SFP+ transceivers and DAC cables to avoid interoperability issues. Avoid excessive force during insertion and removal, and follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions to protect optical modules and transceivers.
