Hunajakenno Godox SB-FW95

The Godox SB-FW95 is a 95 cm black grid accessory made for compatible Godox softboxes. Its 950 mm diameter honeycomb structure narrows and directs the softbox output to reduce light spill and increase directional control while preserving the soft quality of the modifier. This grid is intended to produce a more focused beam for portrait, product, and controlled studio lighting situations without significantly hardening the light.

Advantages

The grid helps concentrate light into a tighter pattern, improving subject separation and reducing unwanted illumination of backgrounds and surrounding areas. Constructed to mount to the front of a matching softbox, it maintains the diffusion characteristics of the softbox while increasing control. Its black finish minimizes reflections and supports consistent color rendering.

Suitable for

• Portrait photography where controlled, directional soft light is needed
• Product and still-life shoots that require precise highlighting and reduced background spill
• Studio setups where feathering and selective illumination are used
• On-location shoots using the matching Godox softbox to shape light

When it may not be suitable

The SB-FW95 grid narrows the spread of light, so it may not be suitable when a very wide, evenly lit area is required, such as large group portraits or broad background lighting. It also reduces the effective output area of the softbox, which may necessitate higher power settings or closer placement of the light to maintain equivalent exposure.

Key specifications

• Diameter: approximately 95 cm (950 mm)
• Color/finish: black, non-reflective
• Type: honeycomb/grid for softbox light control
• Material: fabric and rigid honeycomb cells designed for mounting to softbox front
• Effect on light: narrows beam, reduces spill while preserving diffusion

How to use

Attach the grid to the front of the compatible softbox according to the softbox manufacturer’s mounting method, ensuring the grid is centered and secured. Position the light and softbox at the desired distance and angle to achieve the intended focus and falloff; closer placement increases intensity and focus, while further distance softens and widens the pattern. Adjust power levels or camera exposure to compensate for the reduction in usable light caused by the grid. Use barn doors or flags in combination with the grid for additional shaping if needed.

What to consider before purchase

• Compatibility with your specific Godox softbox model and mounting system
• Desired beam width and whether a narrowed, directional pattern fits your workflow
• Possible need for higher flash power or closer light placement due to light loss
• Studio or on-location usage and storage space for a 95 cm accessory

Recommendations

For portrait and product work, start with the softbox about 1–2 meters from the subject and adjust distance to control contrast. Combine the SB-FW95 with gridless frames for broader fill or with flags to further limit spill. When using continuous or flash sources, meter or test exposures after fitting the grid to set correct power and avoid underexposure.
