UNI-T UT683KIT digital cable locator

The UNI-T UT683KIT digital cable locator is a reliable diagnostic tool that combines the functionality of a transmitter and a receiver, enabling fast and precise tracing of cable runs in low-voltage installations. Designed for use in harsh environments, it offers high noise immunity and automatic detection of faults such as short circuits, breaks or incorrect polarity. It is a professional solution that significantly speeds up and facilitates the work of installers, service technicians and electricians.

Precise wire and fault diagnostics

The UT683KIT can quickly locate a wire in a bundle and pinpoint the location of a fault - even with cable lengths exceeding 3,000 meters (in the case of RJ11). It also allows checking cable continuity and testing for short or break (up to 10 kΩ), as well as identifying polarity. A port illumination function further facilitates verification of correct connections.

Safe operation with low-voltage installations

The UT683KIT is designed to work with installations up to 60V DC. In addition, the receiver is equipped with NCV (non-contact voltage detection) function, which increases the safety of use. A practical 3.5mm headphone jack allows convenient listening to the signal in difficult conditions, and a low power indicator lets you know when it needs to be recharged.

Ergonomics and performance in a compact form factor

The kit consists of a lightweight transmitter (95 g) and a rugged receiver (127 g), both of which fit perfectly in the hand thanks to their compact dimensions. The built-in 1050 mAh lithium-ion batteries provide more than 8 hours of transmitter operation and more than 5 hours of receiver operation - enough for a full day of field measurements. The entire unit is packaged in a practical carrying case for easy storage.

Included

• UT683KIT transmitter and receiver
• USB cable for charging
• RJ11 test cable with crocodiles
• RJ45 test cable
• RJ11 test cable
• User manual (English)
• Carrying bag
• Original packaging (gift box)

How to use

Connect the transmitter to the cable under test using the appropriate RJ11, RJ45 or crocodile leads supplied, then switch the transmitter on and select the desired test mode. Use the receiver to follow the generated signal along the cable route, listening via the built-in speaker or the 3.5 mm headphone jack for clearer indication. For continuity, short or break checks, use the transmitter’s test mode and observe the receiver response; polarity is indicated by the dedicated polarity test function. Recharge both units with the supplied USB cable when the low power indicator appears.

Recommendations

Use the UT683KIT only on low-voltage installations up to 60 V DC and follow local safety practices. Verify connectors and test leads are correctly attached before tracing. For extended or critical diagnostics, combine signal tracing with visual inspection and isolate circuits as required. Store the kit in the carrying case to protect the instruments during transport.
