Kiipeilyköysi Edelrid 712810501380 50000 mm 9,8 mm polyamidi

The Edelrid 9.8 mm climbing rope, 50000 mm long and made from polyamide with a polyester sheath, is engineered for intensive gym climbing and lead training. Its compact double-braid sheath and abrasion-resistant outer layer provide reliable performance for repeated use in indoor environments. Thermo Shield treatment improves handling, while 3D lap coiling keeps the rope ready for immediate use without tangles.

Advantages

This climbing rope combines a slim 9.8 mm diameter with a durable, abrasion-resistant polyester sheath to withstand frequent clipping and rubbing on gym walls and quickdraws. The double-braid sheath construction creates a compact, smooth surface that enhances rope handling and reduces excess friction. Thermo Shield treatment ensures pleasant, consistent feel and controlled elasticity during belaying and catching falls, while the 3D lap coiling minimizes twisting and speeds up deployment.

Suitable for

• Indoor sport climbing and lead training in climbing gyms
• Intensive repeated practice sessions and group training
• Top-rope practice where compact handling and abrasion resistance are required

Key specifications

• Length: 50,000 mm (50 m)
• Diameter: 9.8 mm
• Core material: polyamide
• Sheath material: abrasion-resistant polyester
• Sheath construction: double-braid for compact, smooth surface
• Coiling: 3D lap coiling to reduce tangles and enable instant use
• Treatment: Thermo Shield for improved handling

How to use

Before each session, inspect the rope along its entire length for abrasion, cuts, or core exposure and remove any visible debris. Use the rope with appropriate climbing hardware and knot techniques for belaying or rappelling; follow standard safety procedures for gym lead climbing. Deploy the rope using its 3D lap coil to avoid twists—simply unroll the coil in the direction that lets the rope lie straight. After use, clean the rope according to manufacturer guidance for polyamide ropes, store it dry and out of direct sunlight, and retire it when signs of significant wear appear.

Recommendations

For intensive gym training, pair this 9.8 mm rope with gym-specific quickdraws and regular inspection intervals. Limit outdoor lead use to situations where abrasion and prolonged exposure are managed, and replace the rope if core damage, severe sheath wear, or a loss of handling characteristics are detected.
