Mediakonvertteri ALLNET ALL-SDS102v2 — 2x sarjaportti (RS232/RS422/RS485) 10/100BASE-TX

The ALLNET ALL-SDS102v2 is a compact media converter that links two serial ports to a 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet network. It supports configurable serial interfaces — RS232, RS422 or RS485 — on each port, allowing integration of legacy serial equipment with modern IP infrastructure. The device is designed for environments where industrial automation, point-of-sale systems, building management or remote monitoring require reliable serialization of data streams over standard Ethernet cabling.

Advantages

The converter provides a straightforward way to bridge serial devices and Ethernet without modifying existing serial hardware or device firmware. Its support for multiple serial standards on each port increases compatibility with a wide range of instruments and controllers. The small form factor eases installation in cabinets or on DIN rails, and 10/100BASE-TX connectivity ensures interoperability with common network switches and routers. The unit preserves serial communication characteristics while enabling remote access and centralized data collection.

Suitable for

• Industrial automation systems that require Ethernet-based monitoring of serial sensors and controllers
• Point-of-sale (POS) hardware integration where cash registers or barcode scanners use serial interfaces
• Building management and HVAC systems with legacy serial devices
• Remote telemetry and SCADA applications needing to extend serial connections over IP networks

Key specifications

• Two independently configurable serial ports supporting RS232, RS422 and RS485 modes
• 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet port with automatic MDI/MDI-X detection
• Compact enclosure suitable for desktop, cabinet or DIN-rail mounting
• Transparent serial-to-Ethernet data conversion preserving baud rate and parity settings
• Power input compatible with typical industrial power supplies (refer to manufacturer documentation for exact range)

How to use

Connect the serial devices to the converter’s serial ports using the appropriate cabling and pinout for RS232, RS422 or RS485. Attach the Ethernet port to a switch, router or Ethernet-enabled host via Cat5e/Cat6 cable. Configure serial mode and communication parameters (baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity) on the converter to match the connected devices. Assign network settings or obtain an IP address via DHCP according to the network design, then verify communication by sending and receiving serial data through the networked endpoint or using diagnostic tools.

Recommendations

Place the converter in an environment that meets the device’s specified operating temperature and humidity ranges and ensure proper grounding and surge protection where industrial transients are possible. Use shielded network cables in electrically noisy environments and verify serial pinouts before powering connected equipment to avoid interface damage.
