PRAXA höyrynsulkukalvo 2m x 50m x 0,2mm PE kosteussuoja rulla

On a cold morning, condensation forming inside a roof or wall cavity is a silent threat to any building. Builders and insulation contractors tackling new builds or renovations rely on the PRAXA vapour barrier foil to stop moisture from penetrating the building envelope. This 2-metre-wide, 50-metre-long polyethylene sheet creates a continuous, high-resistance layer against water vapour diffusion. Laid over insulation in roofs, walls, floors, and ceilings, it prevents condensation, mould, and structural decay. The 0.2 mm thickness (200 microns) offers a robust balance of tear resistance and flexibility, making it easy to handle on site while providing long-term protection.

Key specifications

• Material: Polyethylene (PE) with a density of approximately 920 kg/m³
• Thickness: 0.2 mm (200 microns)
• Roll dimensions: 2 m width × 50 m length
• Coverage area: 100 m² per roll
• Water vapour diffusion resistance (Sd value): greater than 100 m
• Colour: Yellow for easy identification during installation
• Temperature resistance: -30°C to +80°C
• Flammability class: E according to EN 13501-1
• Compliance: EN 13984
• UV resistance: limited, for temporary exposure only

Why choose it

This vapour barrier foil delivers an exceptionally high Sd value of over 100 metres, meaning it effectively blocks moisture migration even in demanding climates. The 2-metre width reduces the number of seams required, speeding up installation and minimising potential leak points. The PE material is lightweight, recyclable, and resistant to common construction chemicals. Its yellow colour makes it easy to inspect coverage and identify any gaps during installation.

Ideal use cases

• Vapour control layer in pitched roofs and flat roofs
• Moisture barrier in timber frame and masonry walls
• Underfloor protection above crawl spaces or unheated basements
• Ceiling insulation vapour barrier in cold climates
• Renovation projects requiring upgrade to modern building standards

Good to know

Installation is straightforward: staple or tape the foil to the warm side of the insulation, ensuring overlaps of at least 10 cm and sealing all joints with suitable tape. The foil is recyclable as PE and should be protected from prolonged UV exposure. Always follow local building codes for vapour barrier placement.
