Lens cap Canon E-55 for Canon EOS-M cameras is a 55 mm black protective cover designed to shield camera lenses when not in use. It fits lenses with a 55 mm front diameter and provides basic protection against dust, light scratches and minor impacts. The cap is constructed for repeated attachment and removal and is intended for storage and transit protection of compatible lenses used with Canon EOS-M mirrorless camera systems.

Advantages

The lens cap offers a simple, lightweight solution for protecting the front element of a lens with a 55 mm diameter. Its snap-on mechanism enables quick attachment and removal without tools, while the black finish reduces reflections and maintains a discreet appearance on the camera. The cap’s construction balances durability and low weight to avoid adding bulk during storage or transport.

How to use

Align the cap with the outer edge of the lens front element and press gently until the snap-on mechanism engages. To remove, squeeze the side tabs (if present) or apply even outward pressure to disengage the fit and pull the cap away from the lens. Use the cap whenever the lens is not in use to reduce the risk of dust accumulation and surface damage. Ensure the lens and cap are clean before attachment to avoid trapping debris against the optics.

Recommendations

Regularly inspect the cap for cracks or deformation and replace if damaged. For extended outdoor use, store the lens with the cap on inside a padded case or bag to improve protection against impact and moisture. Avoid forcing the cap onto a lens with an incompatible diameter to prevent damage.
