Otsalamppu Garmin Varia UT800

The Garmin Varia UT800 is a smart, compact headlight designed for cyclists and outdoor users who need reliable illumination. With a maximum output of 800 lumens and IPX7 water resistance, the UT800 delivers adjustable light levels and automatic brightness management when paired with compatible Edge cycling computers. It can be mounted on handlebars or helmets and weighs under 140 grams, offering a lightweight solution for street, trail and mixed-condition riding.

Advantages

The Varia UT800 adapts beam intensity to speed, ambient light and remaining battery when connected to compatible Edge devices, extending run time while providing appropriate luminosity. It offers five selectable light modes—from low to high and two flash modes—providing visibility up to more than 1 mile (1.6 km) in daylight at full power. Its compact design, multiple mounting options and IPX7 rating make it suitable for varied weather and terrain.

How to use

Attach the UT800 to your handlebar using the out-front mount or secure it to your helmet with the helmet or friction mount. Charge and power the unit as described in the manufacturer's instructions. For automatic brightness control, pair the headlight with a compatible Garmin Edge cycling computer that has a light sensor; once paired, the headlight will vary beam intensity based on speed, ride profile, ambient light and battery level. Use your Edge device or a dedicated remote to turn the light on or off and to adjust modes.

Recommendations

The UT800 is intended for cycling and outdoor use; choose higher lumen modes for fast or poorly lit environments and lower modes to conserve battery during slower rides. Regularly check mounts for secure fit and keep firmware updated on connected Edge devices to ensure optimal automatic control.
