RAID-ohjain HPE 870549-B21

The HP SAS Expander Card allows internal storage expansion for HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 servers by enabling support for more than eight internal hard drives when used with a Gen9‑supported Smart Array or Smart HBA controller. This full‑height card provides 12 Gb/s SAS connectivity and includes nine internal ports with up to 26 physical links. The kit contains the necessary cables to connect supported internal SAS drive cages for the DL380 Gen9 server.

Advantages

The SAS Expander Card increases internal disk capacity without external enclosures and enables RAID configurations across more than eight drives when paired with a supported HP Smart Array or Smart HBA controller. It offers 12 Gb/s SAS connectivity, nine internal ports and management through HP Smart Storage Administrator integrated into the server’s intelligent provisioning tools. All required cables for supported DL380 Gen9 drive cages are included.

Suitable for

• Expanding internal storage capacity in HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 servers
• Creating RAID arrays spanning more than 8 internal drives (when used with a supported controller)
• Adding an additional internal drive cage and managing all drives through a Smart Array or Smart HBA

Key specifications

• SAS connectivity: 12 Gb/s
• Internal ports: 9
• Maximum physical links supported: 26
• Form factor: full‑height expansion card
• Compatibility: HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server (requires Gen9‑supported Smart Array or Smart HBA controller)

How to use

Install the full‑height SAS Expander Card into an available PCIe slot in the DL380 Gen9 server and connect it to the Smart Array or Smart HBA controller using the provided cables. Attach supported internal SAS drive cages to the card’s internal ports according to the server hardware guide. Configure and manage the attached drives and RAID arrays using the HP Smart Storage Administrator utility available through the server’s intelligent provisioning interface.

Recommendations

Use the SAS Expander Card only with Gen9‑supported HP Smart Array or Smart HBA controllers and consult the DL380 Gen9 hardware documentation for supported drive cage combinations and cabling. Ensure firmware and HP Smart Storage Administrator are up to date before configuring RAID across expanded drive sets.
