Reititin Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-IW-HD 2.4/5 GHz 802.11ac

The Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-IW-HD 2.4/5 GHz 802.11ac is a dual-band router designed for indoor deployments where a compact footprint and multiple Ethernet connections are required. It supports IEEE 802.11ac Wi‑Fi with combined dual-band throughput and MU-MIMO technology to serve multiple clients efficiently. The device includes five Ethernet LAN ports and PoE in/out functionality, making it suitable for integration into UniFi-managed networks in homes, offices, and hospitality environments.

Advantages

The UAP-IW-HD provides dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless connectivity with 802.11ac performance up to 867 Mbit/s on client-capable bands and MU-MIMO for better multi-client efficiency. Integrated PoE in/out simplifies power and network cabling in rack or wall-mount installations. The compact design with multiple Ethernet LAN ports reduces the need for separate switches in small deployments and enables wired device connectivity alongside managed wireless access.

Suitable for

• Small offices and meeting rooms requiring combined wired and wireless connectivity
• Hotel rooms, serviced apartments, and short-stay accommodations with in-room network access
• Home environments where additional LAN ports and high-performance Wi‑Fi are needed
• UniFi-managed deployments where centralized control and monitoring are used

How to use

Install the UAP-IW-HD in an indoor location with good clearance for wireless coverage. Connect the uplink Ethernet cable from your network switch or gateway to the device and power it using PoE according to your infrastructure (observe PoE in/out ports). Use the UniFi Network Controller software or UniFi Cloud to adopt and configure the access point: set SSID(s), security (WPA2/WPA3 if available in your controller), channel settings, and guest policies as required. Connect wired devices to the available LAN ports for stable local connections.

Recommendations

Place the access point centrally in the coverage area, avoid obstructions and large metal objects near the unit, and update firmware via UniFi Controller to maintain security and performance. For optimal throughput, distribute client load across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and use MU-MIMO-capable client devices where possible.
