The Seagate Expansion desktop drive STKP8000400 is an external 3.5-inch hard drive with 8 TB capacity and a black enclosure, designed to add reliable storage to your PC or Mac. It uses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (also referred to as USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1) interface for fast file transfers and ships with the necessary USB cable and power supply for plug-and-play use. The drive is automatically recognised by Windows and macOS, enabling simple drag-and-drop saving without additional software.

Advantages

Provides a large 8 TB capacity for consolidating files, storing backups and media libraries. USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface ensures higher transfer speeds when connected to a compatible port. Simple setup—connect the power and USB cable and the drive is ready to use. Includes Rescue Data Recovery Services for added data protection support.

Suitable for

Local backups of photos, videos and documents
Expanding storage for desktop PCs and Macs
Archiving large media libraries and project files
Freeing internal drive space to improve system performance

Key specifications

Model: Seagate Expansion STKP8000400
Capacity: 8 TB (8000 GB)
Form factor: 3.5-inch HDD
Interface: USB 3.2 Gen 1 (compatible with USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1)
Colour: Black
Weight: 1.176 kg
Includes: USB cable and external power supply

How to use

Place the drive on a stable surface and connect the included power supply to an electrical outlet. Use the supplied USB cable to connect the drive to a USB port on your PC or Mac—preferably a USB 3.2/3.0 port for best transfer speeds. The operating system will automatically detect the drive; after initial recognition you can copy files by dragging and dropping them to the drive’s folder.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, connect the Seagate Expansion drive to a USB 3.2/3.0 port and avoid moving the drive during heavy read/write operations. Regularly back up important data and consider enabling or using the Rescue Data Recovery Services if data recovery support is required.
