Barlow-linssi Skywatcher 2x, 2" (malli SW-5406) tähtitieteellisille kaukoputkille

The Skywatcher 2x Barlow lens, 2" (model SW-5406) is an optical accessory that doubles the effective focal length of compatible astronomical telescopes. Designed for 2" focusers and eyepiece holders, this Barlow increases magnification without requiring additional eyepieces, allowing observers to reach higher image scale for planetary, lunar and small-deep-sky details. The accessory is suitable for both visual observing and imaging workflows where extra focal length is needed to resolve finer detail.

Advantages

This 2" 2x Barlow provides a simple and reliable way to increase magnification while maintaining the optical axis and backfocus alignment of the telescope. It preserves eyepiece parfocality in many setups, reduces the need to change eyepieces frequently, and is compatible with a wide range of 2" eyepieces and diagonals. Its optical design aims to deliver neutral color balance and minimal added aberrations when used within the intended focal ratio range.

Suitable for

• Planetary and lunar observation when higher magnification is required
• Increasing image scale for planetary and lunar astrophotography
• Enhancing the effective focal length for high-power terrestrial viewing (if using appropriate mounts)
• Observers who want to extend the range of existing eyepieces without buying extra long focal length eyepieces

Key specifications

• Magnification factor: 2×
• Format: 2-inch barrel for 2" focusers and eyepiece holders
• Intended use: visual observing and astrophotography to increase effective focal length
• Compatibility: fits standard 2" eyepieces and many 2" diagonals and focusers
• Optical performance: designed to preserve color balance and minimize aberrations within typical telescope focal ratios

How to use

Insert the 2" barrel of the Barlow into the telescope focuser or diagonal and secure it with the focuser thumbscrews. Place a 2" eyepiece into the Barlow's eyepiece holder and tighten the retaining screw. Focus the telescope as usual; the effective focal length will be doubled, so fine adjustments may be required. When switching between eyepieces, remove or install the Barlow as needed to achieve the desired magnification. For astrophotography, ensure backfocus and spacing from the camera sensor follow the camera and telescope recommendations to maintain image quality.

Recommendations

Use the Barlow primarily with telescopes that provide sufficient focal ratio and stable tracking for high-power observing. For best results in imaging, check parfocal spacing and backfocus for your specific eyepiece or camera adapter; stop up magnification if seeing conditions are poor to avoid over-magnifying atmospheric turbulence.
