Tukiasema Sophos AP6 840 Dual Band WPA3

The Sophos AP6 840 Dual Band WPA3 is a dual‑band Wi‑Fi 6 access point that supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies and delivers up to 3550 Mbit/s aggregate throughput. Designed for indoor and outdoor deployment, the AP6 840 can be managed from Sophos Central or locally for a single AP. It includes WPA3 security, a single 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet LAN port with PoE support, and a compact white housing with four internal antennas.

Advantages

The AP6 840 provides Wi‑Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) performance suitable for general use as well as medium to high‑density environments, with combined data rates up to 3550 Mbit/s and a 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet uplink. Integrated WPA3 support enhances wireless security. Cloud management through Sophos Central enables unified administration alongside other Sophos security products, while local management is available for single‑AP scenarios. Power over Ethernet reduces cabling complexity and supports flexible installation.

Suitable for

• Office environments with mixed device types
• Retail stores and hospitality areas with medium to high user density
• Branch locations managed via Sophos Central
• Single‑AP deployments using local management

How to use

Mount the AP6 840 in the chosen indoor or outdoor location following site planning for coverage and density. Connect the unit to your network using the RJ‑45 Ethernet port and supply power via a compatible PoE switch or injector. For centralized management, register and adopt the access point in Sophos Central; for single‑AP deployments, enable local management and configure SSIDs, WPA3 security, and radio settings through the local interface. Verify firmware is up to date and perform a site survey or signal measurements to confirm coverage.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, place the AP6 840 centrally within the coverage area, avoid physical obstructions near the antenna area, and use Sophos Central for policy consistency when managing multiple APs. Use WPA3 where client devices support it and ensure PoE equipment meets the device power requirements (maximum 30 W).
