1 Gbps Multi-mode Optical Module is a duplex fiber transceiver designed for short-range optical links. The module supports data rates up to 1.25 Gbps and operates over multi-mode fiber for distances up to 550 meters, providing a compact solution for network interconnects that require duplex transmission.

Advantages

The module offers duplex communication over multi-mode fiber with compatibility for standard 1 Gbps network equipment. Its support for distances up to 550 meters on multi-mode fiber makes it suitable for campus, data center, and building cabling links where short to medium reach is required. The compact transceiver form factor allows easy installation into compatible ports.

Key specifications

• Type: Multi-mode duplex optical transceiver
• Nominal data rate: 1 Gbps (supports up to 1.25 Gbps)
• Maximum reach: up to 550 meters on multi-mode fiber
• Connector: duplex fiber interface
• Application: short-range optical links (campus, data center, building cabling)

How to use

Install the transceiver into a compatible SFP/SFP+ slot or designated duplex fiber port on your network device, ensuring the equipment supports 1 Gbps optics. Connect multi-mode fiber patch cables with the correct duplex connectors and verify link status on the network device. Follow standard handling procedures for optical modules, avoiding direct exposure to laser output and ensuring clean fiber endfaces to maintain signal quality.

Recommendations

Use certified multi-mode fiber (OM1/OM2/OM3 depending on distance and performance needs) and clean connectors before installation. Confirm compatibility with your switch or media converter and observe manufacturer guidelines for insertion and removal to avoid damage.
