HDD Western Digital 22 TB 3,5 tuuman Serial ATA Ultrastar DC HC580

The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC580 is a high-capacity 3.5" enterprise hard drive designed for data center use. This model uses improved OptiNAND technology and other innovations to increase areal density and deliver up to 22 TB of formatted capacity in a 10-disk CMR design while remaining suitable for footprint- and power-constrained environments.

Advantages

Improved OptiNAND, energy-assisted magnetic recording (EAMR), triple-stage actuator (TSA) and HelioSeal combine to enable higher capacity with reduced power. ArmorCache — enabled by OptiNAND — provides enterprise power-loss protection when write cache is enabled and improves write-cache-disabled performance. The drive is rated for high reliability with a projected MTBF of 2,500,000 hours and is optimized for sustained data-center workloads.

Suitable for

• Data center bulk storage and archive
• High-capacity storage arrays and nearline applications
• Environments where rack space and power are constrained

Key specifications

• Capacity: 22 TB (22,000 GB)
• Form factor: 3.5"
• Interface: Serial ATA
• Spindle speed: 7200 RPM
• Buffer: 512 MB
• MTBF (projected): 2,500,000 hours
• Weight: 0.67 kg

How to use

Install the Ultrastar DC HC580 into a compatible 3.5" drive bay or storage chassis with a Serial ATA interface. Configure the drive in your array or server according to your system vendor guidelines and initialize it using your operating system or storage controller tools. Observe standard electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions during handling and follow data center guidelines for cooling and power delivery to ensure reliable operation.

Recommendations

Use the drive in enterprise-grade controllers and arrays suited for high-capacity nearline workloads; enable appropriate RAID or redundancy policies and ensure firmware is kept up to date. Consider the drive’s power and thermal requirements when planning rack deployments.
