Fibre Channel -moduuli HP Enterprise VC SE P08477-B21-RFB 16Gb porttinopeus

Fibre Channel Module HP Enterprise VC SE P08477-B21-RFB 16Gb port speed is a server blade I/O module designed for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Virtual Connect environments. The module provides 16 Gbps Fibre Channel connectivity to integrate blade servers with SAN fabric, enabling consolidated storage access and predictable latency for enterprise-scale deployments. It is intended for use in HPE blade chassis and Virtual Connect configurations where reliable, standard Fibre Channel links are required.

Advantages

The module supports 16Gbps port speed for higher throughput compared with earlier generations, reducing I/O bottlenecks in storage-heavy workloads. It is compatible with HPE Virtual Connect SE management and integrates with SAN fabrics using standard Fibre Channel protocols. The design focuses on reliable link performance, low latency, and predictable behavior in dense blade environments. It follows HPE form-factor and management conventions to simplify deployment and monitoring.

Suitable for

• Consolidating server access to SAN storage in HPE blade systems
• Enterprise data center deployments requiring predictable Fibre Channel connectivity
• High-performance virtualized workloads and database servers
• Environments needing standard Fibre Channel integration with existing SAN switches

Key specifications

• Brand: HP Enterprise
• Model / MPN: P08477-B21-RFB
• Interface: Fibre Channel
• Port speed: 16 Gb per port
• Compatibility: HPE Virtual Connect SE environments and HPE blade chassis
• Category: Network transceiver modules

How to use

Install the module into the appropriate HPE blade enclosure I/O bay following the chassis documentation and hot-swap guidelines if applicable. Configure Virtual Connect SE to assign server bay connectivity and map Fibre Channel targets as required by your SAN topology. Connect fibre-optic cables from the module’s ports to the SAN switch or target array ports, ensuring correct transceiver type and LC/SC connector compatibility. After physical installation, verify link status and speed in the HPE management console and validate zoning and LUN visibility from the server operating system.

Recommendations

Use OM3/OM4 or compatible fibre cabling and certified SFP+ transceivers where specified to achieve 16Gb performance. Ensure firmware and Virtual Connect SE versions are maintained per HPE release notes to preserve compatibility and stability. Validate SAN zoning and multipathing configurations after installation to ensure redundancy and predictable failover behavior.
