InfiniBand-/kuitu-kaapeli Cisco StackWise-480 1 m

The Cisco StackWise-480 1m InfiniBand/Fibre Optic Cable (STACK-T1-1M=) is a 1-metre cable designed to connect Cisco StackWise-480 switches and to support the StackWise-480 stacking architecture with a 480 Gbps stack bandwidth. It provides a physical link for synchronized switch state and configuration exchange so the stack can operate as a single logical unit managed by an elected active switch with a standby for fast failover. The cable is intended for use in data center and enterprise network racks that deploy Cisco Catalyst switches using StackWise-480.

Advantages

The cable enables reliable high-speed connectivity between StackWise-480 switch members, preserving stack resiliency and allowing uninterrupted operation during active-to-standby failover. It supports single-address management and synchronized configuration across the stack, and allows adding or removing members without service interruption. The 1 m length simplifies installation in rack-mounted environments where short inter-switch connections are required.

Suitable for

• Connecting StackWise-480 compatible Cisco switches within a rack
• Data centre top-of-rack or middle-of-row stacking links
• Environments requiring fast switch failover and synchronized configuration

Key specifications

• Product: InfiniBand/Fibre Optic Cable for Cisco StackWise-480
• Length: 1 m
• Manufacturer part number (MPN): STACK-T1-1M=
• Stack bandwidth supported: 480 Gbps (StackWise-480 architecture)
• Compatibility: Cisco StackWise-480 enabled switches (e.g., Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series)

How to use

Install the cable between the StackWise-480 stacking ports on two switches according to Cisco stacking instructions. Ensure both switches are powered and running compatible Cisco IOS Software images that support StackWise-480. After physical connection, the stack elects an active and a standby switch and synchronizes configuration and state; no additional configuration is required for basic stacking operation beyond standard switch setup and IP address assignment for management.

Recommendations

Use the 1 m cable for short-distance inter-switch connections in racks or adjacent rack units. Verify compatibility with your specific Cisco switch model and IOS software release before installation, and follow Cisco’s grounding and handling guidelines for fibre optic/InfiniBand cables to avoid damage and maintain signal integrity.
