Jalustapää Novoflex Magic Ball 50 harmaa 1/4 3/8"

The Novoflex Magic Ball 50 Grey is a compact spherical tripod head designed for precise positioning and smooth adjustments. With a diameter of 50 mm, a height of 90 mm and a lightweight construction of approximately 610 g, this head provides a stable platform for small to medium camera setups while keeping the overall kit portable. The head accepts both 1/4" and 3/8" mounts, enabling straightforward attachment to most tripods and quick release plates. Its compact form and mechanical design focus on controlled movement and repeatable camera placement for photography and videography tasks.

Advantages

The Magic Ball 50 combines a small footprint with reliable load-bearing capacity, allowing accurate pan and tilt adjustments with minimal play. Its dual-thread compatibility (1/4" and 3/8") offers flexible mounting options without additional adapters. The head's simple clamping mechanism permits fast locking and release while maintaining firm hold during long exposures or timelapse capture. The grey finish is neutral and resistant to glare, which can aid in outdoor shooting situations.

Suitable for

• Landscape and travel photography with compact mirrorless or DSLR cameras
• Product and tabletop photography requiring precise framing
• Video work with lightweight camera rigs or compact gimbals
• Macro photography using extension tubes or small bellows setups
• Studio use where minimal weight and portability are priorities

Key specifications

• Ball diameter: 50 mm
• Height: 90 mm
• Weight: approximately 610 g
• Mounting compatibility: accepts 1/4" and 3/8" threads
• Finish: grey
• Adjustment type: single ball with clamping mechanism for pan and tilt

How to use

Attach the Magic Ball 50 to a tripod or support using the compatible thread on its base, choosing 1/4" or 3/8" according to the receiving mount. Place a camera or quick release plate onto the top mounting surface and secure it using the clamping mechanism. Loosen the main clamp to position the ball and rotate or tilt the camera until the desired framing is achieved, then tighten the clamp to lock the head. For fine adjustments, slightly loosen the clamp and make small movements; re-tighten once the composition is set.

Recommendations

Use the Magic Ball 50 with cameras and lenses within the head's stable load range; avoid exceeding the practical weight for a 50 mm ball head to maintain secure locking and minimal drift. For heavier setups, pair the head with a sturdy tripod and check all fastenings before long exposures or overhead work. When shooting outdoors, periodically inspect the clamp and threads for grit or moisture and clean as needed to ensure smooth operation.
