Garbot FO Cable Garbot OM3 50/125 is a multimode fiber optic cable designed for high-speed short-range data transmission. Featuring a 50/125 µm core/cladding structure that meets OM3 specifications, this cable is intended for use in modern data centers, enterprise LAN backbones and multimode networking environments where consistent signal quality and interoperability with OM3 components are required.

Advantages

The OM3-rated multimode construction provides low modal dispersion and stable bandwidth performance for 10 Gbps and higher short-reach links. The standardized 50/125 µm geometry ensures compatibility with common multimode connectors and transceivers, simplifying installation and maintenance. The cable is built for reliable signal integrity across typical patching and trunking distances used in racks and conduits, offering predictable attenuation characteristics and mechanical robustness suitable for networking infrastructure.

Suitable for

• Data center intra-rack and inter-rack connections
• Campus and enterprise LAN backbone links
• Multimode fiber patch panels and structured cabling systems
• Short-range high-speed transceiver links (e.g., 10G/40G over multimode)

Key specifications

• Fiber type: multimode
• Core/cladding diameter: 50/125 µm
• OM rating: OM3
• Designed for short-range high-bandwidth multimode applications
• Compatibility: OM3 multimode transceivers and connectors

How to use

Install the Garbot OM3 50/125 multimode cable following standard fiber-optic handling practices: avoid tight bends, maintain minimum bend radius specified by the installer or infrastructure, and protect cable ends with dust caps until termination. Use appropriate multimode connectors and transceivers compatible with OM3 geometry for termination or patching. Test end-to-end attenuation and link performance after installation using an optical power meter, light source or certified fiber tester to verify compliance with expected loss budgets for the intended link distances and data rates.

Recommendations

Store and handle the cable in a dry, dust-free environment; avoid sharp bends and mechanical stress. For reliable 10 Gbps and higher short-reach performance, pair the cable with OM3-compliant connectors and transceivers and perform post-installation optical testing to confirm link integrity.
