Mini DisplayPort - VGA ShiverPeaks Shiverpeaks

The ShiverPeaks Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter converts a Mini DisplayPort video output to an analog VGA signal, enabling connection of laptops, notebooks and tablets with Mini DisplayPort to VGA projectors, monitors and legacy displays. The adapter has a compact grey-cabled design with a male VGA (D-Sub) connector and is designed to preserve video quality when driving standard-definition and some higher-resolution VGA displays. It is suitable for situations where a device with Mini DisplayPort must interface with VGA-only equipment and where a simple, passive adapter is preferable.

Advantages

This adapter provides a straightforward, single-cable solution for connecting Mini DisplayPort sources to VGA displays without requiring external power or drivers for most systems. The compact design and grey cable make it easy to carry and blend with common office and presentation equipment. Compliance with BS77422 indicates adherence to relevant manufacturing or quality guidelines for consistent performance. The male VGA connector ensures compatibility with most VGA display inputs and supports stable analog video transmission.

Suitable for

• Connecting laptops or Ultrabooks with Mini DisplayPort to VGA projectors for presentations
• Attaching tablets and compact PCs with Mini DisplayPort to VGA monitors in office environments
• Using legacy VGA displays and monitors when upgrading source devices that lack native analog outputs

Key specifications

• Input: Mini DisplayPort (source)
• Output: VGA (male D-Sub)
• Cable color: grey
• Connector type: passive adapter with analog VGA output
• Compatibility: compatible with devices that support Mini DisplayPort video output

How to use

Connect the Mini DisplayPort end to the Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt port on your laptop, tablet or other source device. Plug the male VGA connector into the VGA input of your monitor, projector or display. If necessary, select the correct input source on the display and adjust the display resolution from your device’s display settings to match the VGA monitor’s supported resolution. No additional software is normally required; the adapter works as a simple signal converter for video output.

Recommendations

For reliable results, use a high-quality VGA cable between the adapter and the display and avoid excessive cable bending near the connectors. When using projectors or older monitors, check and set the appropriate resolution and refresh rate on the source device to ensure a stable image. If using with a docking station or adapter chain, verify that the upstream device provides a native Mini DisplayPort video signal.
