NITEK passiivinen videon kaksijohtolähetin BNC-tuloilla

In a busy commercial building, a security technician needs to extend a CCTV camera feed from a lobby entrance to a control room 300 metres away. The NITEK VH4-39 passive video balun transmitter makes this possible without running new coaxial cable. It converts the camera's BNC output to a balanced signal for transmission over ordinary Cat5e/6 twisted pair wiring, preserving image clarity over long distances.

Key specifications

• Converts 75 Ohm BNC video to 100 Ohm twisted pair
• Passive operation – no external power required
• Supports NTSC, PAL, and SECAM composite video
• Transmission distance up to 400 m for colour, 600 m for B/W over Cat5e/6
• Built-in surge protection and ground loop isolation
• Compact ABS housing with screw terminal connections

Why choose it

The VH4-39 leverages existing UTP infrastructure to cut installation costs and time. Its passive design ensures reliability without power outlets, while surge protection guards against voltage spikes. The balun maintains signal integrity with low insertion loss and high common mode rejection, delivering stable video even in electrically noisy environments.

Ideal use cases

• CCTV installations in offices, warehouses, and retail stores
• Upgrading analogue camera systems to twisted pair cabling
• Temporary surveillance setups where quick deployment is key
• Long-distance video transmission in industrial facilities

Good to know

For best results, use unshielded twisted pair cable (Cat5e or higher) with a characteristic impedance of 100 Ohms. The balun operates within a temperature range of -10°C to 50°C and tolerates up to 95% non-condensing humidity. It requires no configuration – simply connect the BNC input and the two-wire terminal output.
