Okulaari Explore Scientific 68° 34 mm 2 tuuman

The Explore Scientific 68° 34 mm 2" eyepiece offers a 34 mm focal length in a 2-inch barrel and an apparent field of view of 68 degrees, designed for visual observing with compatible telescopes. Its optical design provides wide, well-corrected views that are suitable for scanning large star fields, observing open clusters, and enjoying low-power panoramas of deep-sky objects. The eyepiece is intended for users who need an expansive, comfortable exit pupil and stable edge performance with common telescope focal ratios.

Advantages

This eyepiece combines a large 34 mm focal length with a 68° apparent field to deliver wide-angle views while maintaining good edge sharpness and contrast. The 2" barrel format maximizes field stop diameter for low-power observing and provides compatibility with standard 2" focusers. Eye relief and internal baffling are tuned to reduce reflections and improve contrast for visual work. Its construction balances optical performance and mechanical fit for reliable use in a variety of telescope setups.

Suitable for

• Wide-field visual observation of star fields and open clusters
• Low-power panoramic viewing of large deep-sky objects
• Surveying the Milky Way and extended nebulae
• General-purpose eyepiece for Dobsonian and refractor telescopes with 2" focusers

Key specifications

• Focal length: 34 mm
• Apparent field of view: 68°
• Barrel diameter: 2 inches (50.8 mm)
• Optical design: multi-element eyepiece optimized for visual use
• Intended use: low-power, wide-field observing

How to use

Insert the 2" barrel of the eyepiece securely into the telescope's 2" focuser and tighten any thumbscrews to prevent movement. Start with a low magnification to locate and center the target, then adjust focus slowly until stars appear as sharp points. For extended objects, move the telescope slightly to scan across the field and allow your eye to adapt to the exit pupil size. When switching to higher magnification eyepieces, remove the 2" unit carefully and store it in a protective case.

Recommendations

Use the eyepiece with telescopes that support 2" focusers and moderate focal ratios for best wide-field performance; avoid use with very slow or very fast optics without checking illumination and edge sharpness. Clean optics only with recommended lens-safe materials and keep the eyepiece capped when not in use to preserve coatings and internal baffling.
