Refraktori-teleskooppi Sky-Watcher SolarQuest 80/400 HelioFind-aurinkokiinnikkeellä

The Sky-Watcher SolarQuest 80/400 refractor telescope with HelioFind solar mount is a compact instrument designed for daytime solar observation when used with appropriate solar filters. With an 80 mm objective and a 400 mm focal length, this telescope provides bright, wide-field views of the solar disc and basic solar structures. The integrated HelioFind solar mount offers automated solar alignment and tracking, making it simpler to keep the Sun centered for visual observing and basic solar imaging. The optical tube assembly and mount are lightweight and portable for transport to outdoor observing locations.

Advantages

The instrument combines a fast, low-maintenance achromatic refractor with a dedicated solar mount that reduces manual alignment time. The 80 mm aperture delivers good light-gathering for daytime use while the 400 mm focal length offers a wide field suitable for full-disc views and low-magnification detail. HelioFind provides automated solar positioning and continuous tracking, which is useful for steady visual observation and short-exposure solar photography. The compact size and modest weight make the set convenient for field use and easy setup.

Suitable for

• Visual observation of the solar disc with proper solar filters
• Basic solar photography (full-disc and low magnification) with a camera or smartphone adapter
• Educational demonstrations and daytime outreach activities
• Portable field observing where simple, reliable solar tracking is required

Key specifications

• Optical design: Achromatic refractor
• Aperture: 80 mm
• Focal length: 400 mm
• Focal ratio: f/5
• Mount type: Solar tracking mount with HelioFind alignment system
• Tracking: Automated solar tracking for continuous follow of the Sun
• Portability: Compact tube and lightweight mount for transport
• Use: Daytime solar observation and basic imaging (with proper filtration)

How to use

Before any use, fit a certified solar filter over the front of the objective — never observe the Sun without an appropriate filter in place. Set the telescope on a stable surface, level the mount and power the HelioFind system according to the user manual. Enter the required location and time information into the mount if prompted, then allow the HelioFind alignment to locate the Sun and initiate tracking. Insert a suitable eyepiece for low magnification to begin visual observation; for imaging, attach a camera or smartphone adapter to the eyepiece holder and make fine focus adjustments while the mount tracks the Sun.

Recommendations

Always use only dedicated, certified solar filters that cover the full aperture and are rated for direct solar observation. Avoid using eyepiece or improvised filters. For photography, use short exposure times and appropriate neutral density or solar film filters designed for imaging. Ensure the mount is on a stable surface and monitor power to the HelioFind system during long observing sessions.
