Vastapaino Skywatcher EQ6 5,2 kg — tasapainopaino Skywatcher-jalustoille, 5,2 kg

Counterweight Skywatcher EQ6 5.2 kg is a purpose-built counterbalance weight for Skywatcher equatorial mounts. Designed to be mounted on the declination or counterweight shaft, this 5.2 kg mass helps achieve precise balance of optical tubes, cameras and accessories. Stable balancing reduces mechanical strain on the mount's drive system and contributes to more consistent tracking performance during long exposures and visual observation.

Advantages

The counterweight provides a compact, calibrated mass that is easy to install and secure on standard Skywatcher counterweight shafts. Its size and weight distribution are optimized to deliver predictable balancing behavior, reducing periodic error caused by unbalanced loads and decreasing wear on gears and motors. The solid construction ensures durability in field conditions while remaining compatible with common equatorial mount workflows.

Suitable for

• Balancing optical tubes on Skywatcher EQ-series equatorial mounts
• Astrophotography setups requiring precise load balance for long exposures
• Visual observing where steady tracking and reduced motor strain are desired
• Add-on accessories such as guide scopes, camera plates or heavy eyepieces that change center of mass

Key specifications

• Weight: 5.2 kg nominal
• Compatibility: designed for Skywatcher equatorial mount counterweight shafts
• Form factor: cylindrical mass with central bore for shaft mounting
• Material: dense metal alloy for compact size and stable center of gravity
• Mounting: through-bore fit with secure locking mechanism to prevent slippage during use

How to use

Slide the counterweight onto the mount's counterweight shaft until the desired position for balance is reached, then secure it with the shaft's locking screw or clamp. Adjust the position of the counterweight along the shaft incrementally while monitoring the mount's balance in right ascension and declination axes. For astrophotography, perform fine-tuning with your full imaging train attached and confirm balance before starting long exposures.

Recommendations

Verify the mount's maximum payload and counterweight capacity before use. Use the counterweight in combination with other weights as needed to achieve precise balance; avoid relying on motor torque to compensate for large imbalances. Store the counterweight in a dry place to prevent corrosion and inspect the mounting bore and locking surfaces for wear periodically.
