Synology NAS Flash Station FS6400 (24 paikkaa) 2U / MESSEWARE

In a busy broadcast studio, editors need to push 4K footage to shared storage without stutter. The Synology FlashStation FS6400 steps in as a 2U rackmount NAS that turns 24 drive bays into a high-throughput pool for teams that can't afford latency. With dual 10GbE ports and an Intel Xeon D-2131, it's built for tasks where speed is the whole point.

Key specifications

• Intel Xeon D-2131 6-core 2.2 GHz (burst up to 3.0 GHz)
• 32 GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM, expandable up to 512 GB
• 24 x 2.5" SAS/SATA SSD/HDD bays (diskless)
• 2 x 10GbE RJ-45 + 2 x 1GbE RJ-45
• Dual redundant 800W power supplies
• 2 x PCIe Gen3 x8 slots for expansion
• Up to 240,000 4K random write IOPS and 6,200 MB/s sequential read
• Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) with Btrfs and EXT4 support
• Synology High Availability, VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, OpenStack ready
• 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports

Why choose it

This NAS is all about sustained performance under load. The Xeon D-2131 and ECC memory keep data integrity high, while dual 10GbE links give you headroom for multiple concurrent users. SSD cache support and RAID F1 make it a natural fit for all-flash or hybrid arrays that need to serve databases, virtualization, or heavy file sharing without bottlenecks.

Ideal use cases

• Video post-production and broadcast storage
• Virtualization clusters (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix)
• High-transaction databases and iSCSI targets
• Centralized backup for large workgroups
• Surveillance recording with high write loads

Good to know

The FS6400 ships diskless, so you can choose the drives that match your capacity and endurance needs. It supports Synology Hybrid RAID, RAID 0/1/5/6/10, and RAID F1 for flash-focused setups. Management is via a web GUI, SNMP, or CLI, and the dual PSUs mean one can fail without taking the system offline. Rack rails are not included by default, so plan mounting accordingly.
