Taustalevy Thermal Grizzly TG-SB-R7000 alumiini polykarbonaatti musta

The Thermal Grizzly AM5 Short Backplate (TG-SB-R7000) is an alternative mounting plate that replaces the original AM5 backplate to provide a secure holder for the motherboard's Socket Actuation Mechanism (SAM). It enables the use of coolers that rely on custom retention kits originally designed for AM4-style mounting by offering a shortened backplate that supports the SAM while maintaining electrical insulation. The plate is made from anodised aluminium with a polycarbonate insulating layer and comes in a black finish.

Advantages

The AM5 Short Backplate extends compatibility to a wider range of CPU coolers by providing a mounting point for the motherboard's SAM when the cooler uses a custom retention kit. Its anodised aluminium construction offers durability and thermal stability, and the added polycarbonate insulating layer protects against short circuits. The compact design replaces the original AM5 backplate without interfering with AM4-style cooler mounting solutions.

Suitable for

• Systems where an AM4-compatible cooler with a custom retention kit is used on an AM5 motherboard
• Upgrading or modifying CPU cooler mounting to maintain SAM attachment on AM5 sockets
• Builds requiring a short, insulated mounting plate in black anodised aluminium

How to use

Remove the original AM5 backplate from the motherboard following the motherboard manufacturer’s instructions. Position the Thermal Grizzly AM5 Short Backplate on the rear of the motherboard so that the SAM mounting points align with the board’s screw holes. Secure the SAM to the short backplate using the original SAM screws. After installation, mount your cooler using its custom retention kit according to the cooler manufacturer’s instructions.

Recommendations

Ensure the motherboard is disconnected from power and placed on a static-safe surface before beginning installation. Verify alignment of SAM screw holes before tightening screws to avoid damage. Do not invent or modify mounting holes; use only the intended screw positions and follow both motherboard and cooler manufacturer guidance.
