Tukiasema MITEL RFP 48 WLAN IP-DECT — MITEL RFP 48 -tukiasema IP-DECT:lle WLAN:n kautta

MITEL RFP 48 WLAN IP-DECT base station enables integration of cordless DECT handsets into IP telephony networks using an existing WLAN infrastructure. Designed for office and enterprise environments, the unit provides seamless voice connectivity without requiring separate wired DECT cabling. The device supports centralized call control and mobility management through IP-DECT architecture over WLAN, simplifying deployment in locations where laying new DECT cabling is impractical.

Advantages

The MITEL RFP 48 base station offers straightforward integration with IP telephony systems while utilizing existing Wi‑Fi networks to extend DECT coverage. Its design reduces installation effort and infrastructure costs by eliminating the need for dedicated DECT wiring, and it supports centralized user mobility and call handling typical for IP-DECT deployments. The device is suitable for scalable installations where additional coverage can be added via WLAN access points and compatible handsets.

Suitable for

• Office buildings and open-plan workspaces needing cordless telephony without new DECT cabling
• Enterprises seeking centralized IP-DECT call management with WLAN-based coverage
• Sites with existing Wi‑Fi infrastructure where rapid deployment of cordless handsets is required
• Environments requiring mobility for staff such as reception, facilities, or on-site services

Key specifications

• Function: IP-DECT base station operating over WLAN for cordless handset connectivity
• Connectivity: Integration with enterprise WLAN to carry DECT signaling and voice over IP
• Deployment model: Designed for centralized IP-DECT architectures with handset mobility support
• Coverage role: Extends DECT service using wireless access infrastructure where wired DECT is impractical
• Installation: Intended for rapid deployment leveraging existing Wi‑Fi access points and network configuration

How to use

Install the MITEL RFP 48 base station within the WLAN coverage area and configure it to register with the IP-DECT controller or IP telephony platform according to the network provider’s integration guidelines. Ensure WLAN access points are provisioned to carry voice traffic with appropriate QoS settings and that network security policies permit the base station to communicate with the call control system. After registration, pair compatible DECT handsets and verify handover, call setup, and roaming behavior across coverage zones.

Recommendations

Position the base station where WLAN signal strength is stable and supports required voice quality; enable QoS (WMM/802.11e) for voice traffic and isolate voice VLANs where possible. Verify interoperability with the chosen IP-DECT controller and perform site radio planning if wide-area coverage or dense handset counts are expected.
