Verkon mediakonvertteri PLANET GTP-805A 1000 Mbit/s, 1000Base-T – 1000Base-X, SFP, PoE-budjetti 30 W

PLANET GTP-805A is a single-port gigabit media converter that converts 1000Base-T copper Ethernet to 1000Base-X fiber using an SFP module. It supports wired Ethernet speeds up to 1000 Mbit/s and delivers up to 30 W of PoE power over the RJ-45 port. Housed in a metal case with one RJ-45 port and one SFP slot, the GTP-805A is intended for extending network reach and powering devices where AC outlets are unavailable.

Advantages

The GTP-805A combines data conversion and PoE power delivery in a compact unit, allowing fiber links to feed power and data to remote devices. It supports IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) with backward compatibility to IEEE 802.3af, provides up to 30 W PoE output, and maintains gigabit throughput over fiber. Built-in features such as Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) selection, flow control and LED indicators simplify monitoring and fault detection. A robust metal enclosure adds durability for installations in wiring closets and equipment rooms.

Suitable for

• Connecting copper Ethernet segments to fiber backbone using an SFP module
• Powering remote network devices that require higher PoE power (up to 30 W), such as PTZ cameras and higher-power wireless access points
• CCTV, campus and ISP access networks where fiber distance and PoE are needed

When it may not be suitable

This converter provides a single powered RJ-45 port and one SFP fiber interface, so it is not suitable where multiple powered ports or extensive local switching are required. It also relies on an appropriate SFP module to meet required fiber type and distance; without a compatible SFP the desired fiber link characteristics will not be met.

Key specifications

• Maximum data transfer rate: 1000 Mbit/s
• Ethernet LAN ports (RJ-45): 1
• Fiber interface: 1 SFP slot (1000Base-X)
• PoE power output: up to 30 W on RJ-45 port (IEEE 802.3at, backward compatible with IEEE 802.3af)
• Remote power feeding distance over Ethernet cable: up to 100 m
• Input power: DC 52 V power input socket
• Frame size support: up to 9K bytes (Jumbo frames)
• Flow control: IEEE 802.3x (full-duplex)
• Housing: metal case
• LED indicators: power, PoE-in-use, fiber LNK/ACT, TP LNK/ACT
• Product colour: blue

How to use

Install a compatible SFP module into the SFP slot and connect the fiber link to the remote fiber segment. Connect the copper Ethernet device to the RJ-45 port using Cat5/5e/6 cable. Provide DC 52 V to the converter’s power input; the unit will supply PoE power and data over the RJ-45 cable up to 100 m. Configure the remote device as required; use the DIP switch to enable or disable Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) mode and monitor the LEDs for link and PoE status.

What to consider before purchase

• Required fiber type and distance — select a compatible SFP module (single-mode or multi-mode) to meet link distance
• Power requirements of the powered device — ensure device consumes no more than 30 W via PoE
• Single-port design — verify whether one powered port and one fiber interface meet your network topology needs
• Supply voltage — confirm availability of a DC 52 V power source for the converter

Recommendations

Use quality Cat5e/6 cables for the RJ-45 segment, choose an SFP module rated for the required distance and fiber type, and place the GTP-805A in a ventilated area. Monitor LEDs and enable LFP when you need link-failure propagation between fiber and copper segments.
