Kuitu-kaapeli S/CONN ShiverPeaks 5 m ST/ST

ShiverPeaks 5m ST/ST fibre optic cable with OM2 multimode construction and a 50 µm core diameter is designed for reliable, high-speed data transmission in structured cabling and device interconnects. The 5-metre duplex patchcord uses ST connectors on both ends and supports full duplex communication, making it suitable for switching equipment, media converters and fibre-enabled devices. The cable jacket is halogen-free, reducing smoke and corrosive gas emission in case of fire and meeting safety requirements for installations where low-toxicity materials are preferred.

Advantages

The cable offers stable multimode signal transmission with a 50/125 µm core/cladding geometry (OM2) suitable for short- to medium-range links. ST/ST connectors provide a bayonet-style coupling for secure mechanical connection and straightforward handling during installation and maintenance. The duplex format enables simultaneous transmit and receive channels, supporting standard duplex network topologies. A halogen-free outer jacket improves safety and reduces potential damage to nearby equipment during a fire incident.

Suitable for

• Connecting switches, routers and media converters in local area networks (LAN)
• Patch panels and fibre distribution frames in server rooms and data closets
• Short- to medium-distance multimode links in enterprise and campus environments
• Fibre-enabled industrial equipment where halogen-free materials are required

Key specifications

• Cable length: 5 metres
• Fibre type: OM2 multimode
• Core/cladding diameter: 50/125 µm
• Connector type: ST on both ends (duplex patchcord)
• Communication mode: Full duplex
• Jacket material: Halogen-free

How to use

Inspect connectors and cable ends before installation to ensure cleanliness and absence of damage. Route the 5m ST/ST fibre patchcord through cable management paths, avoiding tight bends and excessive pulling forces that could increase attenuation. Insert each ST connector into the matching ST adapter or port until the bayonet locks, ensuring correct alignment of transmit and receive channels for duplex operation. For best optical performance, use proper fibre cleaning tools and follow equipment-specific procedures for link testing and commissioning.

Recommendations

Use this duplex ST/ST OM2 cable for short- to medium-range multimode links and maintain bend radii above the manufacturer’s minimum; keep connectors clean and stored with dust caps when not connected to preserve signal quality and reduce insertion loss.
