Printserveri Silex DS-520AN

The Silex DS-520AN Print Server is a compact grey network device that connects USB peripherals such as scanners, multifunction printers, dongles, meters, readers and USB hard disks to a LAN or dual-band Wi‑Fi network (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), removing the need for a direct USB cable and its 5-metre length limitation. It supports common IEEE 802.11 networking standards and TCP/IP protocols for reliable network access and shares a single USB device with multiple users over the network.

Advantages

The DS-520AN replaces USB cabling with wireless or Ethernet connectivity, enabling flexible placement of USB devices and multi-user access. It supports dual-band Wi‑Fi and IEEE 802.11a/b/g/h standards, includes a USB Type-A port and an RJ-45 Ethernet port, and operates with low power consumption (5.5 W). The device helps reduce IT procurement by allowing sequential shared use of peripherals and improves device utilization.

Suitable for

• Sharing a USB printer, scanner or external hard drive over a wired or wireless network
• Connecting legacy USB peripherals in offices without long USB cables
• Small offices and workgroups that need centralised access to USB devices

How to use

Connect the USB peripheral to the DS-520AN’s USB Type-A port and attach the device to your network via Ethernet cable or configure the unit to join your Wi‑Fi (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) following the manufacturer’s setup utility. Once connected and configured with TCP/IP settings, install any required drivers or client utilities on user workstations so they can detect and access the shared USB device over the network.

Recommendations

Place the DS-520AN within reliable Wi‑Fi coverage or near a wired network socket for best performance. Use Ethernet for high-throughput devices or when low latency is required. Verify compatibility of USB peripherals with network sharing and keep firmware updated for security and stability.
