Skywatcher hybridijalusta AZ-EQ5 WiFi jalusta/pilari kaukoputken kiinnitykseen SW-4159

The Skywatcher Hybrid Mount AZ-EQ5 WiFi tripod/pillar (model SW-4159) is a dual-mode support system for telescope attachment that combines alt-azimuth and equatorial functionality in one platform. It provides a stable base for medium to large optical tubes and integrates WiFi connectivity for remote control and slewing via compatible apps. The design supports both visual observing and guided astrophotography when used with appropriate counterweights, polar alignment and tracking accessories.

Advantages

The hybrid AZ-EQ5 offers the flexibility of switching between alt-azimuth and equatorial modes without changing the entire mount, simplifying polar-aligned long-exposure work while preserving intuitive alt-az visual use. Built with a robust tripod/pillar interface, it reduces vibration and improves tracking stability. Integrated WiFi enables wireless control of slewing, alignment routines and basic imaging operations from smartphones or tablets, removing the need for direct cable connections to the mount control panel.

Suitable for

• Visual planetary and deep-sky observing in alt-azimuth mode
• Guided astrophotography and long-exposure imaging in equatorial mode
• Field use and backyard observing with portable tripod or pillar setups
• Remote control and automated slewing via WiFi-enabled devices

Key specifications

• Mount type: hybrid alt-azimuth / equatorial functionality
• Connectivity: built-in WiFi for wireless control
• Compatibility: standard saddle/attachment for common telescope optical tubes
• Stability: tripod/pillar support designed for medium to large scopes
• Control features: slewing, alignment routines and tracking available via compatible applications

How to use

Set the tripod or pillar on a stable surface and secure the mount head according to the included mounting interface. Attach the optical tube to the saddle and balance the assembly with appropriate counterweights when operating in equatorial mode. For equatorial tracking, perform polar alignment using the mount's polar axis adjustment, then switch to equatorial mode and engage tracking. For casual observing in alt-azimuth mode, attach the telescope, level the tripod and use the WiFi connection to control slewing and centring functions from a mobile device. Follow the manufacturer’s user manual for detailed mechanical adjustments and torque limits.

Recommendations

Use a dedicated polar-alignment routine and guide-scope or guide camera for long-exposure astrophotography to achieve optimal tracking performance. Ensure firmware and controlling apps are kept up to date and operate the mount on a firm, level surface to minimize vibration. When transporting the mount, remove optical tubes and counterweights and secure moving parts to avoid damage.
