Lintujenpyrstökiinnike Skywatcher Losmandy 400 mm SW-4215 kaukoputken jalustalle

Skywatcher Losmandy dovetail mount 400 mm (model SW-4215) is a metal mounting rail designed to attach compatible telescope optical tubes and accessories securely to Losmandy-style saddle clamps. The 400 mm length offers a balance between extended support for larger optical tubes and compactness for transport. Constructed from metal for rigidity and repeatable alignment, the rail is intended for amateur and semi-professional telescope setups where stability and straightforward mounting workflow are required.

Advantages

The 400 mm dovetail rail provides a stable platform that minimizes flex and maintains alignment during observing sessions. Its Losmandy-compatible profile ensures broad compatibility with widely used saddle clamps and mounting systems, allowing quick installation and removal of optical tubes. The metal construction resists deformation and supports safe handling during setup, adjustment and transport. The rail's length accommodates a range of tube sizes while remaining compact enough for storage and travel.

Suitable for

• Attaching refractor and reflector optical tubes with Losmandy-style saddle clamps
• Mounting guide scopes, finder scopes or imaging rigs alongside main optical tube
• Amateur and semi-professional observing, astrophotography setups and portable rigs

Key specifications

• Material: metal construction for rigidity and durability
• Length: 400 mm usable mounting length
• Compatibility: Losmandy-style dovetail profile for standard saddle clamps
• Finish: machined surface for repeatable alignment and secure clamping
• Weight capacity: sufficient for typical amateur optical tubes and ancillary gear (verify with your clamp/mount specifications)

How to use

Place the dovetail rail into the Losmandy-style saddle clamp on your mount, making sure the rail engages the clamp profile fully. Tighten the saddle clamp according to the clamp manufacturer's instructions to secure the optical tube. Balance the optical assembly on the mount by sliding the rail within the saddle before final tightening to ensure smooth tracking and reduced strain on the mount. For multi-instrument setups, position guide scopes or accessories along the rail and re-check balance and clearances.

Recommendations

Inspect the dovetail and saddle clamp surfaces for debris or damage before mounting. Use appropriate torque on clamp fasteners—over-tightening can deform components while under-tightening can allow slippage. For heavy or off-center loads, verify that your mount and clamp are rated for the combined weight and consider additional support or shorter overhangs to preserve tracking performance.
